An Ordinary Person

Matthew 4:18-20

The apostle Peter was an ordinary person who lived in an extraordinary time. His was the generation during which Jesus Christ lived on the earth, died for the salvation of mankind, and rose again.

It was through his brother Andrew that Peter (who was originally called Simon) met the Lord (John 1:40-42). When Jesus invited him to become a disciple, he immediately left his fishing trade and placed himself under Christ’s authority (Matt. 4:20). He became a passionate follower who consistently demonstrated an eagerness to be near the Savior and in the middle of whatever was going on. Whether meeting Jesus on the water during a storm (Matt. 14:27-29) or speaking to Him during His transfiguration (Matt. 17:1-5), Peter was devoted to his Master’s service.

In the beginning, the former fisherman was quick to speak and to act, and this impulsiveness created many problems for him. For example, when Jesus was talking about His imminent suffering and death, Peter objected, as if he knew better than the Lord. Christ’s rebuke was swift and direct (Matt. 16:21-23). The apostle, however, learned from his mistakes. He’s a good example of how we should let go of personal desires, wholeheartedly embrace Jesus’ way, and walk closely with Him (Mark 8:34).

The Lord chooses unexceptional people like Peter, you, and me to build His kingdom. He asks His followers to love Him above all else and fully commit to obeying Him. When we do, He will accomplish more through us than we could ever imagine.

Overcoming the Faith Barrier

Exodus 3:10-17

God called Moses to do a great work for Him that would also bless the Israelites. Moses’ response to this awesome invitation was to offer excuses for why he couldn’t obey. This kind of attitude—which I call a “faith barrier”—can thwart us spiritually.

In Moses’ life, we see areas of weakness that can create such a faith barrier:

Poor self-image. When God gave the command to go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses’ immediate response was to say, “Who am I?” (Ex. 3:11). Perhaps he was thinking of his occupation as a lowly shepherd living in Midian. Maybe he was referring to his upbringing and separation from his birth family (Ex. 2:1-4). Or he might have been recalling his past, when he killed an Egyptian and had to flee (Ex. 2:12). Whatever Moses’ objection was, the Lord answered with a wonderful promise: “I will be with you” (3:12).

Ignorance of God’s greatness. In order to carry out God’s plan, we need to believe fully in the One who has called us. When Moses questioned his assignment again, the Lord answered by revealing Himself as the great I AM and the One who had promised to rescue the Israelites (vv. 14-17). By trusting in the character and promises of almighty God, Moses would be able to carry out this seemingly impossible assignment.

Faith barriers hinder the flow of divine power in our life, slow spiritual growth, and prevent us from fully carrying out the Father’s will. We must remember who He is and where power comes from. We know that our heavenly Father is sovereign over all, and His Spirit empowers us to follow through in obedience.

How do you know if you have matured in God?

Philippians 4:11-13 New International Version (NIV)

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.


When you start living for God, you will find that everything you used to do on your own must be seen through the eyes of God; by daily study of the Word of God, by prayer and supplication, you will be able to determine God’s standards for your life.

Sometimes you may be deceived by your own desires, you may find that you do something that is not in God’s will for your life, yet you feel prompted to do it anyway.

We won’t always know what is the best for our lives, and God realizes that we can and will make mistakes. He will not condemn us if we are sincere in believing that our actions were not an act of rebellion against Him. He knows our hearts, and so He will gently redirect our will and desires back into the fold of His love and guidance, but if we are willfully rebelling against God and His standards for our life, He will continue to warn us that we are going in the wrong direction. If we will not listen, He will let us go our own way.

Now, you really don’t want God to release His hand off of your life, because that gives the enemy, the devil, the right to enter into your deception and your willful pride and totally wreck havoc in your life! If you are not sure that you are following the Lord’s will for your life, come to Him right now, and ask Him to show you what He wants for you, repent and ask for forgiveness. He is gracious to all of those who are willing to live for Him.

Recently, I did something that I thought was of God., I felt prompted to do it, and even though on the surface it was not a evil act, it was out of God’s will for my life. The Lord allowed me to do it, and the results were just as they were when I had tried it before, I had no success. I realized that I had been deceived, and I asked the Lord what He wanted for my life. He told me that I needed to trust Him, that everything that I was going through was exactly what He wanted for my life, and that I needed to be patient, for everything that He promised me would come to pass. I asked for His forgiveness, and I received it, and continued to live in the place in which He has me in right now.

In the past when I took actions that were not successful, I would feel disappointed and sorrowful, and I must admit that I felt some of that in the beginning for this circumstance, but I also felt hopeful and peaceful, I knew that the Lord would guide me and take care of me.I knew that He was always there for me, in all of my periods of happiness and sadness, He would never leave me or forsake me, and this time, I did not focus on what I did not have, but I focused on what I do have, that I have a roof over my head, and food on the table, clothes on my back, and a healthy body and mind.

I remember how many people in the world are suffering and how they would love to be in my position. There are so many things I would like to have, but they are nothing compared to God’s grace and love! He will bring me through this time, and I will be a better christian, a better person, and a loving and compassionate friend to those who will need my help.

How do you know that you have matured in Christ? Measure your response to suffering and hardship, to rejection and the unfair advantages that other people may have over you. Can you smile when you have been cheated? Can you find peace in your heart when you go to Him in prayer? Have you surrendered your heart and mind to Him when He asks you to go His way instead of your own? Congratulations, my friend, because if you can feel joy and peace in your heart when you go through hard times, it means that you know the secret to happiness!

Take My Yoke

Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus invites all burdened individuals to come to Him for rest, yet so often we misunderstand what He is offering. When stresses and problems weigh us down, the most natural response is to ask God for relief: “Lord, I can’t carry this anymore. I’m going to leave it here with You.” Having dumped the burden like a bag of garbage, we walk away but remain unchanged inside.

God doesn’t operate that way. Christ’s invitation is to join Him in the yoke so you can walk and work together. He doesn’t want just your burden; He wants you. The yoke of Christ is a symbol of discipleship, characterized by submission and obedience to Him. God’s goal isn’t simply to give relief by removing a weighty trial or affliction; He longs to draw you to Himself in a close and trusting relationship. Those who take Him up on His offer will turn from their old ways and be transformed.

The process of lightening the load begins with learning to know and understand the Lord. The burden is not necessarily removed, but our thoughts and responses are changed as we begin to love Him, trust Him, believe His promises, and rely on His power. Then, as the weight of the affliction shifts from our shoulders to His, we will discover relief, although the situation may remain unchanged.

Being yoked with Christ results in rest for your soul. Life’s pressures may not lessen, but if you are intimately linked with Jesus, your soul is free from churning anxiety, and His peace is ruling in your heart. You have nothing to lose—except your weariness—and much to gain.

How to Handle Burdens

Psalm 55:1-23

In today’s reading, David was overwhelmed with the weight of external pressures and internal anguish. Burdens come in a variety of emotional, spiritual, and physical forms, but they all feel heavy and cause weariness. Every one of us can identify with David’s desire to “fly away and be at rest” (v. 6).

Some of the loads we carry are not part of God’s plan for us. We lug around the guilt that lingers even after confession of sin and also try to function while carrying worry about the future. Then we top it off with a little bitterness and unforgiveness because life has not been fair. These burdens aren’t from the Lord, and He won’t help you carry what He has told you to release.

Other burdens, however, are entrusted to us by God. He gives us responsibilities, which can weigh us down, and He sometimes allows relational difficulties that tear at our heart. And when such problems and trials are persistent, they can drain our vitality and threaten to overwhelm us.

But remember, every circumstance in life is lovingly sifted through the Lord’s fingers before reaching us. From His perspective, those things that are too heavy for us are opportunities for dependence upon Him. God never intends for any of His children to carry a burden without His help. He says to give it to Him (v. 22) and promises to sustain us.

Casting your cares upon God means releasing them fully into His control. You will no longer be free to manage and manipulate the situation toward your desired outcome, but the freedom Christ offers will release you from the burden’s weight. He’ll sustain you with His peace as you trust Him.

LISTEN CAREFULLY

Mark 4:23-25, “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.' And he said to them, 'Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and for the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away'” (ESV, emphasis mine).

John 5:24, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life” (ESV, emphasis mine).

The different contexts of the above passages is not what I would like to focus on for this devotional thought. What I do want us to focus on is the emphasis Jesus puts on hearing in both cases.

You know what I find interesting? How easy it is for us to remember the lyrics of songs from all genres. Whatever type of music we listen to it seems we absorb what we hear and can often name a song or remember lyrics as soon as we hear the first few notes. The other day as I was driving down the road I was listening to one of my CD's (I know, old school, right?). As soon as the music started I began to sing the lyrics before the artist's voice even made an appearance in the song. When this happened Jesus' phrase in our reading from Mark came to mind, “...anyone who as ears to hear, let him hear... Pay attention to what you hear.” The words made me stop and think for a moment: “Do I really listen to words from God as I should? Do I focus with as much intent and pay as much attention to Scripture, sermons, etc., as I do (whether consciously or subconsciously) to songs playing from my speakers? Why can I recite lyrics without a problem yet Scripture memorization seems to be such a struggle?”

My intent is not to make anyone feel guilty, it's simply to point out the importance of hearing and listening to what God may be “saying” to us. This is vital because paying careful attention to Scripture, sermons, lessons, and the “whispers” of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds helps us immensely with growing in our faith and Christian walk. If we devote all our attention to listening carefully to God, as many of us do with music, we will grow in our understanding and insight. Not only that, we will find ourselves growing in our relationship with Him as well. However, if we don't pay attention, we risk the chance of losing our “perception of Christ and of God's kingdom.”* Not to mention possibly missing an area of God's will for our lives. If we dedicate ourselves to listening to God through his Word and Spirit with focused attention and eagerness, we will deepen and strengthen our faith.

Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you asking for your help in being focused and attentive to what you have to say to us in your Word. We ask this so we can grow in our faith and knowledge of you and to deepen our relationship and personal walk with you. Make us hungry for your Word and excited to hear what you have to say to us through it. In the name of your Son we pray, amen.

The Blessings of Wisdom

Proverbs 3:1-4

The world claims there are many paths to a successful, rewarding life: education, wealth, public recognition, or even service. But in the end, true fulfillment comes from the Lord and following His wisdom.

Proverbs says that when we choose to align our heart with God’s truth, we will “find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man” (3:4). Not only will we have protection, clear guidance, and intimacy with the Father, but we’ll also receive divine power to walk circumspectly before Him.

Wisdom—understanding God’s perspective on situations and responding accordingly—brings us the strength to stand firm in our faith and choose His way. It also helps us to calmly accept the hardships in our life. Our sovereign God knows the extent of our difficulties. Out of His love for us, He never gives us more than we can handle and uses even our darkest hours for His good purposes. Wise people are convinced this is true; they enjoy supernatural peace and will live in the Lord’s favor (Prov. 8:34-35; Phil. 4:7).

God wants to prosper His people in spiritual as well as material ways. For that reason, His first priority is to increase our understanding of Him. Then as we align our heart with His wisdom and will, we can apply His principles not just to our finances but to every facet of life.

The Lord stands ready to pour out His choicest blessings—power, divine favor, spiritual prosperity, and supernatural peace—on those who draw near to Him and submit to His plan.

Down to the Details

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. (Psalm 147:4 NIV)

It was a busy day for me with grocery shopping and errands to run. I arrived home later than expected and to my horror discovered one of my rings missing. A treasured jewel, the diamond ring once belonged to my late mother. I searched tirelessly and called the places I had been to, but there was no ring. With a heavy heart, I prayed for God’s help to find it. But later I started overthinking the matter. Did God, who is so big, care about such a small thing?

Two days later, I went to the grocery store and pulled into the same parking space I had been in the day I lost the ring. I opened the door, looked down, and to my delight, the ring lay on the pavement. That day God showed me there is no request too small for Him. I am amazed that the Creator of the universe cares about the small things in life.

God is omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnipresent (present everywhere). He knows everything about you, your thoughts, your whereabouts, your struggles, (Psalm 139:1-15) and even knows the number of hairs on your head. (Matthew 10:30) God has no limitations and can use your life experiences to build trust in Christ and a stronger reliance on Him. God is interested in the details of your life. Take your request to Him, no matter how small it is, and thank Him for His answer.

Heavenly Father, thank You for caring for us right down to the details of our lives. Use our life experiences to strengthen our walk with Jesus. Amen.

It's Not Done By Me, It Is Done By Him!

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

We need to consider what the past has shown us, that the times are dark and evil and that it will continue to be so until the Lord Jesus Christ comes back again. With that knowledge in the back of our minds, we face challenges everyday that stretch our faith, our time, and our strength.

That is when we must bring our petitions for help and restoration to Him, The Kings of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Jesus Christ. He always know when we need His help, but we are the ones that need to be mindful of our own limitations. It is hard sometimes to surrender to His will, but it is necessary. We cannot live this life without receiving hurts and pains, without going through some stressful situations, but when we bring our hearts and minds to the Lord, when we focus on Him instead of our problems, He will give us the victory!

Whatever you are going through right now, remember you are not alone, and that your fellow sisters and brothers in Christ are going through some things as well. We need to be mindful of the suffering that is going on all around us and in the world, and to pray for others, for their healing and restoration; once we begin to focus on others and on the Lord, we will begin to see the manifestation of God's power in our own lives.

It is simple, I take my issue to the Lord, I tell Him how it makes me feel and how it is affecting my life, and I ask for His help, and then I stand upon His word, and declare His promises for me and for my life. I give it all to Him, I let Him fight the battle for me! I know that He has it, I may not see the answer right away, but I have peace in my heart, and I am filled with joy, not because the answer manifested instantly, (although sometimes I do receive an answer right away!), but because the Holy Spirit comforts me and I feel God's love as I start praising His name. I begin to worship Him in His presence, and declare the issue settled in my heart, I claim the victory even before I see it!

That is why it is so important to learn how to do praise and worship, just lean into Him, and you will feel His presence and His love, and when love fills your heart, fear no longer has any place in you!

When you get your answer and your family and friends ask how it came to pass, all you will need to say is, "It was not done by me, It was done by Him!"

Good Ole' Boy

You likely know him…

He’s a good ole’ boy. He earns an honest living, provides for his family, contributes to society and loves his country. The good ole’ boy would never intentionally wrong anyone. We all wish there were more like him. He has stored a list of don’ts to memory and faithfully avoids those activities. We applaud him but how much ‘good’ is he doing?

Jesus, God the Son is goodness personified.

“The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all— that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:36-38 NKJV).”

As He walked the earth, Jesus always pleased the Father. Going, He shared the message of repentance and worked miracles. He was doing good.

God the Father was with Him and gave witness of His approval.

“While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him (Matthew 17:5 NKJV).”


Good ole’ boys (and gals) can please the heavenly Father too.

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord (Matthew 25:21 NKJV).”

Misbehavior

A word can trigger old memories.

Have you been ‘naughty?’

I remember my Mom using the word naughty. Do parents still define misbehavior as being naughty?

The heavenly Father warns us against naughtiness…

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls (James 1:21 KJV).”


At Christmastime, many parents tell their children Santa Claus is watching them that he knows if they are naughty or nice. Our Father is watching the young and old alike; he does know when we’ve been naughty.

“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad (Luke 8:17 KJV).”

God sees all. He knows all.

“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do (Hebrews 4:13 KJV).”


I don’t want to be naughty; I don’t want to misbehave.

I want to avoid sin.

There is a safeguard.

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11 KJV).”

Spiritual Causes of Discouragement

Psalm 43

It’s often easy to trace discouragement back to its apparent cause, such as a criticism at work or a relationship issue. But there can be subtle, less obvious factors that are valuable to understand. So let’s look at some spiritual components.

Satan. The enemy is a primary instigator. His purpose is to have us lose heart, think poorly of ourselves, and focus only on the negative.

An area of weakness. When the devil has a stronghold in our life, such as a tenacious habit, he can use it to discourage us. This can be especially disheartening because it feels as if we can’t escape his grip, no matter what we do.

Unanswered prayer. When a prayer is answered “no” or “not now,” we can lose hope. Sadly, some people quit praying altogether.

Prayerlessness. Failing to understand God’s sovereignty and timing can lead to this tragic result. When He answers prayer in an unexpected way, some believers are so taken aback or irritated that they give up on praying altogether. However, cutting off communication with the Lord is a sure way to move into deeper discouragement.

The sense you can’t please God. This is a tragic consequence of a works-based faith, wherein we believe God’s favor is tied to our good works. What a misguided error! Our Father’s love is based on His own grace, not our deeds.

It can be surprising to realize spiritual factors may be adding to our discouragement and further draining our joy and energy. Identifying these causes is crucial, even if the process is painful. Once we clearly see the problems, we can begin to learn how to avoid or correct these trouble areas.

If He Had Not Moved For Me, I Would Be Discouraged



There are many times that I could have been discouraged; there were many times when I did find myself in a state of discouragement, but that was a while back in my life, when I still believed in God, but I thought I had to do everything for myself. It is true that we need to work, and cook dinner for ourselves, and live our lives in a normal ordinary manner, but what do you do when you have done everything you know how to do and the answer eludes you, when you spend your last dollar, you pulled out your last favor, you have no one else in your life who will help you but God, what do you do next?

That is when you learn to lean and trust in the Lord, and watch Him do what you could not do for yourself. I am in a state of transition, where things should be moving someplace, but haven't yet, and where I came from is a bit uncomfortable, but bearable. It's the place where you see other people in your lives accomplishing things, and you wish you were doing the same as well, you know that place where everyone is wondering about you, and you feel a little awkward about addressing the issue, because you can only tell them, "The Lord will move for me, I know He will because He has in the past". If you know what I mean, then you know the place where I am right now!

God will lead you to the place where you need to be, it just doesn't seem to fit where you want to be right now. He is capable of bringing you out of all sorts of strange places and sticky situations. Learning to lean on Him is a learning process, at least it was for me. I spent most of my life realizing that I could only depend on myself, I was always grateful for the help I received from time to time, but I survived my childhood and my growing pains by "making do" with what I had. That is "making do" emotionally, financially, and spiritually.

I used to be afraid of God and of dying until I opened my heart to Him, and He showed me His love, and then I knew that everything was going to be allright, no matter what happens to me, if I live today and leave this plane of existence tomorrow, I know He loves me and will never leave me or forsake me. I used to feel like I had no emotional support, but I learned to love others with the love of the Lord, and His love now occupies my heart, and so I no longer feel lonely or deprived. I was always struggling financially, and I am still catching up in that area of my life, but I have found peace and joy in Him, and I find that even though I have to pinch my pennies hard, I am happy! He makes me happy.....that my friends is my personal everyday miracle.







Why am I not worried about what is going to happen tomorrow? Because He has moved for me in the past, and so I am not discouraged!

The Symptoms of Discouragement

James 1:2-4

One of Satan’s most effective weapons is discouragement. The enemy knows that if he can destroy our courage, we’ll be ineffective in our attempts to accomplish anything for Christ. Let’s explore the downward spiral created by this destructive force.

One mark of discouragement is a divided mind. This underlying distraction affects every area and decision. No matter what you’re doing, it feels as if a dark cloud covers your entire thought life.

Discouragement also leads to the “blame game,” where it’s common to feel the need to point a finger at someone else. You may want to find fault with God because He has allowed painful circumstances in your life, or you may accuse others because of the way they treat you. Perhaps you yourself feel guilty for poor choices or past mistakes. My friend, blame is an empty activity. No healing or restoration ever came from trying to pin responsibility on someone else for the hardships in your life.

Anger is another common indication that a person is discouraged. When this occurs, bitterness may develop and finally become a spirit of vengeance. If you let anger grow and fester without resolution, it can easily turn into depression. Then resentment can act like a cancer that slowly spreads and invades every aspect of your life.

The traits described above aren’t what one would expect of a Christian, are they? However, they are all too evident in the church. Ask the Lord to search your heart for any trace of discouragement—and to eliminate its destructive power from your life.

Troubled

Do you ever feel troubled?

We need not be ashamed. Trouble comes to all.

God created us as emotional beings. We experience both joy and sorrow.

Jesus was troubled because He had great compassion.

“Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, ‘She is going to the tomb to weep there.’

Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, ‘Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.’

Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled
(John 11:31-33 NKJV).”

Jesus was troubled because He was being betrayed.

“When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me (John 13:21 NKJV).”

Jesus felt sorrow.

Answers in Times of Great Disaster

Deuteronomy 29:29

Almighty God reserves the right to reveal some things and conceal others. Although we may not know why natural disasters occur, the biblical truths we do know with absolute certainty allow us to trust the Lord even in times of great suffering. Because of the Bible, we can be certain:

God is in control (Psalm 103:19). Nothing in heaven or on earth is outside of His rule and authority. He does not react to events but sovereignly ordains or permits them to run their course. Although we cannot know for certain if He has sent a catastrophe or allowed it, we can trust in His goodness and wisdom.

The Lord loves people and wants them to be saved (John 3:16-17). Giving His Son for the salvation of the world proves without a doubt that He loves each person. This truth stands firm despite the fact that many reject the Savior. He cares for us, even when we can’t feel it or won’t accept it.

God works circumstances for His good purpose (Isa. 46:10). Though we can’t fully comprehend what He’s doing in each incident, every disaster is a wake-up call for humanity. God is alerting us to the need for repentance—so the lost can be saved and the saved can be revived to live totally for Him. The Lord wants to get our attention, and catastrophes open our ears to hear from Him.

The One who loves us perfectly is in full control, working everything out according to His plan. Knowing this should fill us with hope, even in the midst of crisis situations. The Lord promises to turn disaster to good for those who “are called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28).

God’s Promise in Context

Psalm 19:7-11

Yesterday we noted that to understand God’s divine promises, believers must consider the whole counsel of God. For example, the Lord’s commitment to supply our needs isn’t isolated from other parts of Scripture.

Trust God to provide (James 1:6-7). James opens his letter with a strong warning that those who doubt the Lord can expect nothing from Him. God’s trustworthiness is clear in Scripture and in believers’ lives, but our wavering confidence undermines His work.

Wait upon His timing (1 Samuel 13:9-13). Instead of waiting for Samuel, King Saul usurped the prophet’s authority by making a pre-battle sacrifice to God. Though his army won, Saul lost God’s favor as well as the throne. People who manipulate circumstances and timing expect good results but are often disappointed. No one gets what he really wants by supplying his own need.

Accept responsibility (Prov. 19:15; Prov. 20:4). We can’t expect God will open a door to opportunity while we’re just sitting back. We have to be on the lookout, ready to participate. For example, if we need a job, we should be out submitting applications. If we want to know the Father’s direction for a hard situation, we must be seeking Him regularly through prayer and His Word.

God knows our needs, and He has committed Himself to meeting every one. But He does not make promises in a vacuum. We have a responsibility to trust Him, be patient, and do our part. Then we leave it to the Lord to move heaven and earth to provide.

The Basis for Discernment

Hebrews 4:12-13

Spiritual discernment is the ability to see life from God’s perspective. It requires that we know how He thinks and acts. The Bible is His unchanging, infallible revelation of Himself. However, the Lord doesn’t simply give us a list of facts about His character and ways. All throughout the pages of Scripture, He illustrates who He is and how He operates.

Although an ancient book, the Bible is in no way obsolete. Its stories may have taken place centuries ago, but its principles and applications are still relevant, offering discernment about situations and guidance for decisions.

God’s Word—which Ephesians 6:17 refers to as “the sword of the Spirit”— is active and piercing, like a surgeon’s scalpel. The words don’t simply sit on the page; rather, they penetrate our heart and judge our thoughts and motives. This convicting quality is why some Christians avoid reading the Bible. They prefer to live on a surface level but never understand why they react to situations the way they do. If we don’t want to keep making the same mistakes, it’s essential that we become discerning about ourselves. The way to do that is by approaching the Word of God with an open spirit. Then God will bring to light our hidden motives and unrecognized sins.

Spiritual discernment involves seeing not just circumstances but also ourselves from God’s perspective. Have you learned to embrace the piercing sword of Scripture, or have you avoided doing so because it makes you uncomfortable? Remember, whenever the Lord uses a surgical knife, His purpose is always to make us healthier.

Love Casting Out Fear

I was watching an interview of a soldier who risked his life to save a child in a dangerous situation: He prayed and then took a leap of faith and ran to pick up a girl who was hiding under the dead body of her mother. He could have been killed by rebel shooters, but He made it back to the safe zone with that child. He was asked if He was afraid, and he said yes, he was afraid, but the Lord encouraged Him to go and do this brave act, and He knew he would be alright, because God was watching over Him.

When you have fear in your heart, the first thing you must do is ask for help from God. Fear was always my greatest enemy, and it has taken me a long time to get to the point where I know that I can act in a situation, even with fear in my heart if God tells me it will be okay. When you are feeling fearful, ask the Lord for a fresh infusion of His Love, and when you feel love in heart, fear has to leave; fear cannot exist in the presence of Love!

A Testimony: What I Have Learned So Far

I wanted to give a personal testimony on what has happened in my life on a spiritual level. The Lord has been wonderful to me, gracious and merciful. He has given me a reason to keep on going in this life, which is to love the one person who loves me with all of His heart and soul, Jesus Christ, who died on a cross for my sins, to give me new life and an awesome future with Him, forever and ever, in love, peace, and joy!

Life has not been easy recently, and I would not have survived at all without His love and protection. He told me last year to start a blog, to write down everything I had in my heart, to use what God has given me to express His love for me and for all of His children, and it has helped me so much, for whatever the Lord gives me to say has also blessed me, and has changed me spiritually and emotionally. I have gone over some of my past posts, and I can't believe these words came out of me!

My writing skills are not perfect, I never studied to become a writer, I make mistakes, but what I write comes from a love of God, and a need to express what He has put into my heart. Every feeling He has put into me, I write about because I know He wants to me show the world what He means to me!

This is what I have learned recently:

1. The daily devotional time with God has paid off: I learned to make time with God everyday (prayer, reading the bible, praise and worship) because of what I have learned from other christians, through writings, shows and videos, and what they have taught me to do is working. I know for a fact that my inner life has changed. I am more confident, I have lost a lot of fears and anxieties, I learned to trust Him more and lean into His love and His will for my life. This is something that happened gradually, and has kept me going despite my circumstances.

2. Healings - I have been healed many times when symptoms occured, and I learned to come to Jesus first, when symptoms manifest themselves in my body, some were as simple as headaches and as important as knee problems that could have affected the rest of my life, all types of fevers and viruses. Staying in the word daily and declaring healing scriptures over my body has helped me to be healthy and to remain positive when fear tries to come back into my heart.

3. The Blood of Jesus - I have often heard from other christians that pleading the Blood of Jesus over your life and your circumstances work, and I have to agree. I have done so and I feel positive results in my mind, in my heart, and in my life. Never underestimate the power of the Blood of the Lamb, for it is that Blood that saves us, and cleanses us from all of our sins; the devil and his demons cannot stand against the Blood of the Lamb, so while you are declaring bible verses over your issues and healing scriptures over your symptoms, don't forget to claim the Blood of Jesus over your life!

4. Practicing Daily Communion - I come from christian denominations that did not take communion everyday, and so the concept was a foreign one to me, but some christians are declaring the many benefits of daily communion. It focuses your heart and mind to Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice on the cross; I am more motivated to the christian walk, and I see this as more than a religious ritual, but a loving gesture by my Lord Jesus Christ, His passionate need to share His heart, soul, and blood for me as He allowed Himself to be sacrificed on the cross at calvary.

People who take daily communion report healings of the body and the mind; some are instant healings and some are progressive healings. I do recommend that you try this when you start to have symptoms in your body, or when the doctor comes back with a bad report. I know that I am feeling much better since I started to do this and I feel that it is added protection for me as I go about living my life in Him.

5. Rise and Sunset Prayer - I learned from other christians to do these prayers, say a prayer when I wake up in the morning, and say a prayer when I lie down to sleep. This is not a great revelation, because many christians do this, in fact many people were raised to do the prayer before you go to bed. I was raised to do the sunset prayer; what was different is how I prayed it and what I prayed for. I learned to pray as I woke up a simple prayer of hope, love, and dedication - I dedicated the day to the Lord, I asked Him to be with me and to help me to be a better christian, and anything that I was thinking about at that time, some issue.

At night, I prayed for His protection against spiritual warfare from evil spirits, and asked for dreams of revelation about God, sweet dreams of love and revelation, and this is what happened: It started my day well and gave me the motivation to be do better, to be better and I was focused on the fact that this day is a gift from God, and that everyday I live is a gift from the Lord, it's not about me, it's about Him! The simple prayer of protection and guidance at night helped me tremendously, my dreams were sweeter, and He spoke more revelations to me in my heart, and I know longer had anxiety dreams.

These prayers are simple and takes less than a minute of my time, but I have found that they are very powerful!

I can say that it has been a wonderful experience getting to know my God, and how much He loves me, and if you know my Lord Jesus like I do, I know that you can say the same things too!

Jesus, I Want To Come Home




"Jesus, I want to come home!" - that is what we all say with our hearts when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. We were deep into sin and we had no real solution for our troubles, and then we had a revelation of Jesus Christ! Someone talked to us about Him, or we heard a sermon in church or on tv, maybe it was radio program and you heard the testimony of someone who was struggling just like you, and their words touched your heart.

Did you know that your confession of faith in God is something very special in God's eyes; you touched His heart when you said "yes" to his invitation. It was a miracle that only God could have done; human beings are very broken, weak, and hard hearted, we live to obey our own desires, and we must learn to be selfless and compassionate.

Matthew Chapter 19 16-2

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

18 “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’”

20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.

24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

What was Jesus saying here? He was not saying that the rich could not be saved, but that He is the only way that they could be saved. It was not that the rich man wasn't a 'good' person, it was that he allowed His wealth to blind Him to the Real Treasure in this life, Jesus Christ, and it is only by the power and authority of the Lord that any of us wake up from our slumber and see His light.

I just saw a video about a woman who tried to witness to a homeless atheist. She told Him that she did not have any money, but she wanted to give Him a bible, but He refused to take it. She tried to leave one near Him, but He told her to take it away, and give it to someone who could use it! Somewhere, in the recesses of his heart, he knew that the Word of God was real, that it was the truth, and yet he chose to refuse it for himself; that is why there are many 'good' people in hell, who believed their 'goodness' would get them into heaven, but how could they get to heaven if they never knew God or His Son, Jesus Christ?

Please listen, you must know the way to heaven, you must seek Him with all of your heart, and accept His Son, Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, for the time is growing short; no one will be able to seek Him out once He comes for His church and He leaves the rebels and the unbelievers here with the devil and his demons for the final judgement.

He protects this world right now with His love, and His Holy Spirit will not leave until every child of God has been collected from the four corners of our world.

I can say with faith and belief that this time of favor and grace is quickly running out, so there is only one very important thing that you must do right now:

Look up to heaven, and say with all of your heart, "Jesus, I want to come home!"

Vision - Daniel - Judgment

Vision and Message: Jesus said "Write down what you see"
I had this vision on 9th January 2017, I came across it again this morning and felt to post it. Although some of it pertains to my testimony of healing and also includes a dream I had of evil to come, together with a final message from Jesus of repentance for we are truly in the LAST HOURS before Jesus' Second coming

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance....2 Peter 3:9

I see Jesus at the right hand of the Father. I see my prayers going toward the Father. They are on a silky pink ribbon the name of ‘little jacky’ is printed on in neat handwriting.

I see tall angels standing beside God and I also see Michael wrestling with a devil called F.E.A.R. This devil called F.E.A.R. is branded all over his face in capital letters. These letters are like separate fires and move in and out of every part of the body of this demon. As I look closer to this word F.E.A.R. I see each letter has a separate entity. It is alive and moving. This demon called F.E.A.R. grows like a balloon, expanding and contracting.

I see myself surrounded by this demon called F.E.A.R. as a child resulting in inner torment and anguish every time I see an adult, for it was adults that abused me as a child. I also see other letters, though smaller on this demon called F.E.A.R. one is s.u.s.p.i.c.i.o.n. one is j.u.d.g.i.n.g. the other j.e.a.l.o.u.s.y. another called m.a.l.i.c.e. and p.a.i.n. All these different words, including F.E.A.R. move in and out of a person’s body, heart and mind bringing continual torment.

I noticed that they move like an ‘S’ shape, a snake. The words interlock with each other and eventually shape like a pentagram star. This is the symbol of satan and witchcraft. I noticed that when these words moved around and formed this shape of a pentagram to completion then there were loud screams of pain and it disperses like fire and starts all over again.

I see this demonic spirit in the heavenly realms ducking and diving as it fights with Michael the archangel of God. On one side is very deep darkness and on the other brilliant light.

My own prayers yielding to Christ are bringing greater victories. At this time of viewing I see there is no let up from this demonic spirit for Jesus is allowing me to see it as it really is. The LORD revealed that this demonic spirit called F.E.A.R. did come through my mother’s womb at birth. It is a generational stronghold from the enemy due to disobedience and witchcraft. The LORD revealed that each generation which repeats the history and continues in disobedience and witchcraft makes the spirits of the enemy even stronger. This is the reason why the demonic spirit of F.E.A.R. has been so great.

At this point of showing me the truth I see Jesus standing as though getting ready to cast this demonic spirit out with ONE word. It is no hard thing for Him to do so. I see the spirit that has surrounded me all my life since childhood still fighting but is losing ground rapidly as Jesus gets nearer.

Each time I let Jesus in to those dark areas then greater the healing and deliverance shall be. The Father is now nodding His Head because He has heard my cries of deliverance. He has heard my prayers of repentance for any involvement in the occult that I grew up in and there is an imminent victory, yet Jesus is waiting for something. Not sure what it is, it is like He is waiting for something to emerge or finish.

Then I see lots of little pink ribbons, those you see advertised for those who have breast cancer. I see that these are also attached to this demonic being called F.E.A.R. and the words d.i.s.e.a.s.e. and s.i.c.k.n.e.s.s. Again the LORD showed me that they are generational on my mother’s side. [This is true many in that family died of cancer].

As this vision unfolds, of which I am truly amazed, it reminds me the first time I saw Jesus in the form of man back in 1991 at a deliverance ministry. He came to me with the name ‘Daniel’ which actually means Judgment. I remember seeing Him and He is beautiful and I couldn’t take my eyes off Him. He looked so incredibly young and knew what I was thinking which was I thought He was an angel. His words were ‘I am not who you think I am’. Because yes, I thought He was an angel of God but He was more He was the Son of God.

The LORD also wanted to show me other things taking place right before my eyes which were too incredible. There is a lot of activity going on in Heaven right now. I saw that there are a lot of preparations being made. It is as though Jesus is waiting for someone to leave the earth is connected to me in some way. Again, like the other week I perceive it is to do with my earthly father. The words, although not spoken, but silently spoken to my mind was ‘The hour has come’.

There is such a battle going on still in the Heavens and it really is unbelievable. I saw another trumpet being polished and ready to be blown. It is 35 feet long. There is also a stampede of demons on horses, wild black horses which change into large black boars. The demons are sat on top of them ready to go. [I had this in a dream in 2013].

I see Jesus calmly interceding for many of his people, the saints, but the multitude of black horses like large boars are stamping their feet. The words I hear from them are ‘Let us go!’ ‘It’s time to let us go!’ But Jesus is standing quiet and very tall, very calm. I can feel the burning love in His heart. The pain of what is to come is beyond description. There is so much emotion between the Father and Jesus His Son. There are no words. Their thoughts and emotions are as One. Jesus looks at His mighty angels and nods. Again no words are used or needed. All things in Heaven are understood without words.

Then I see the Father form out of His mouth a ring of fire. He blows it towards the earth. it is travelling so fast from the Heavens to the earth. This I sense is a protective ring or ‘Wall of Fire’ around those who belong to Him, those who will escape the coming wrath. I had a sense it was like the time when the angels came to Sodom to get Lot and his family out and the LORD’s judgment wouldn’t fall until Lot’s family had gone out of the city.

The demons are now in a frenzy and are ready to bring destruction and fear.

Another ring of fire is blown out of the Father’s mouth. He does this seven times! These are for the saints. These are seven ‘Walls of Fire’ and they get larger and larger as they leave His Mouth until they hit the earth, which is not yet.

Then from another perspective, even standing in the same position, like a panoramic view I see these seven rings, seven ‘Walls of Fire’ enter into the earth’s atmosphere like you would see a comet coming out of the sky.

Jesus looks at me, no words are needed but He says:

‘Tell the people what you see’

‘Tell them to REPENT and turn to Me’

‘All that is left is REPENTANCE for the darkness is now descending from above and from below’.

Jesus then takes me in an instant, transported to the core of the earth, the centre of the earth which is just fire and brimstone. There is a tremendous heat and coals of fire to burn many but I do not feel it’s intensity.

I see in the Heavens Chariots of Fire and also hoards of black horses like large black boars, very strange creatures as though they switch from one creature to another.

I hear the words ‘That’s enough’. Again they are not spoken but transferred through thought from the Head of Christ.

‘Tell them to REPENT for the Kingdom of God is here’

‘Tell them to REPENT’

Then I see Jesus standing at his rightful place at the right hand of the Father interceding for His saints, His beloved people.

More and more prayers are flying now into the Father and He is answering them according to His Will and His Kingdom.

The atmosphere in Heaven is electric. The storehouses are now open where the Father keeps the Lightening which are being prepared as swords from Heaven. Also being prepared are tornadoes of different lengths and height and width.

One last time I hear Jesus say:

‘Tell them to REPENT’

‘Tell them what you have seen’

‘Tell them to REPENT’

Can You Feel The Presence Of The Lord?

Isaiah 57:15

For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.

Where is the presence God in your life? Did you know He is always present with His children, with His little ones, the ones that love Him and cherish Him, the ones who love Him?

He is there with me, when I am happy, He is there with me, when I am feeling low; there is no time in my life when He has left me alone. Even in the early days of my childhood, when I believed in Him, but did not know Him, when He was just a concept taught to me in my old church and in sunday school, He was there. Even when I felt lonely and helpless or when bad things occured in my life, He was always there.

When I began to truly understand who He was, and when I truly began to love Him, He was there. He was waiting for me to come into my own and claim Him, for He had always had a claim on me!

Where is the presence of God? Always in my heart and soul; I cherish the times when I usher in the presence of God, by worshiping Him and praising Him, by prayer and supplication, singing my content by myself in my 'war room', my prayer closet, and reading His word, letting His wisdom permeate my heart, and yes, He was always there, cheering me on and supporting me.

The presence of God is everywhere, and if you do not feel His presence in your life, you may not be open to the experience. Ask the Lord to come into your heart and mind, open your heart to believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you will begin to experience His presence in your life....

His Eye Is on the Chipmunk

We live in the ideal location: lots of trees, good soil, pleasant climate, plenty of food, peace and quiet; it is the ideal environment — for chipmunks!

Chippies are so cute — and so destructive. They have caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to our property, so we have decided they have to go. We couldn’t entreat them to leave, get a restraining order, or pawcuff them, and we don’t want to kill them, so we bought a humane trap that allows us to exile them to a better place (with the owner’s permission, of course!).

We tempt the critters into the trap with a handful of yummy seed, then SNAP! the trap slams shut and the chipster cannot escape.

It’s hard to watch the little fellow struggle, but we know he will be free in a matter of minutes. If the captives only knew that, they could relax and wait. (Believe it or not, when I started this sentence — SNAP!)

Have you ever heard the sudden SNAP! of a trap? It may be the result of giving in to a yummy temptation (Proverbs 29:6: “An evil man is ensnared in his transgression, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.”). Perhaps it’s the deluged basement, the double-dealing spouse, the deflated bank account, or the dire prognosis. Whatever it is, you suddenly feel trapped and desperate.

Unlike the panicked chipmunk, the child of God can know that God is watching and will release us in due time.

Many of us are familiar with the classic hymn, “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” It is a song of comfort based on Jesus’s words in Matthew 10:29-31, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” If the Father notices a tiny sparrow falling to the ground, an unusual and frightening situation for a bird, He certainly is aware of the distress of one of His children.

God sees us struggling in our trap and pities us. He does not want to destroy us but move us to a place of stronger faith and, ultimately, to a better location. “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire — may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:6-7). “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4).

He knows we will be released, and He knows when we are ready to be released (Romans 5:3-5; James 5:11). When you hear that SNAP!, know that there is a huge Person whose hand will reach down and carry you off to higher ground.
