Darkness Retreats From The Light And The Light Overcomes Evil With Kindess.
I remember all of the stories I read as a child, all the children's tv shows and live events; there was usually a message in between all the jokes and the funny characters. You had the mean character or the mean kids, who always picked upon the 'nice' kid or kids. There was some goal that had to be accomplished, some race that had to be won, some good deed that needed to be done, and the good kids always had to win or finish the goal without cheating or lying, and the bad kids taunted the good ones and used every trick in the book to stop them from winning.
But in the end, the good guy or the good kids would succeed. Usually, it would be because of some sacrifice, or some technique they learned on their journey, prompted by the evil deeds of the bad guy or the bad kids, so that in the end, it was the bad guy/kids own tactics that backfired on them. This is a common theme in these kinds of stories, and is used alot because children like to see good overcome evil.
As we start to grow up and beccome adults, that sense of triumph of good over evil becomes muted or disappears altogether as the reality of life begins to sink in. You know that you are grown when you realize that we all survive in life by dealing with people and circumstances that are not ideal, and that when you want to do good, evil is present to hamper your way. It isn't so easy to to win the race in the real world when everyone else is determined to win the race by any means necessary, and that usually means going through you to do it.
That is where God's Grace comes into play, for we know that every lesson in life is to help us to grow and mature, to become true believers in Christ, and to practice the love of God, and how to be kind to others, even to those who use us and taunt us. Kindness is a trait that comes from a heart of love, the love of Jesus Christ, expressed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We cannot show kindness to others in our own strength, we need the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us and transform us into loving, forgiving, kind souls.
Kindness is given when you know who you are in Christ, so that if your act of kindness is rejected or mocked by the one(s) receiving it, you will know that you are not reduced as a person because of it; you could feel hurt or embarrassed, but you never have to feel regret, because the Lord will be there for you, comforting you and encouraging you. He will be so proud that His child had the courage to do the right thing, to show kindness and consideration, that you chose to act according to His will and plan for your life.
Kindness is a gift that we give to others because of the act of kindess we receive every day from our Lord, Jesus Christ. He allowed himself to be born into this world, to live among us, God and man in one body, showing us how to live and to love by performing acts of kindness, by healing people and forgiving their sins, was critized and taunted by those who hated the light and loved to live in the darkness. and He sacrificed Himself on a cross so that we could be saved from eternal darkness and condemnation. He knows thing or two about being kind in the face of cruelty and rejection.
Ask the Lord to have His way in your life for His Glory's sake, and to show you how to be kind to others who chose not be kind to you. Do it because He has been so kind to you. Do it because He loves you. Do it because when your light shines, the darkness cannot bear to be in its presence and then it has to flee, and that is how good overcomes evil.
